Heritage education can also be included in mathematics lessons. Although it seems surprising, there is compatibility between the two areas. This exercise can be used in lessons of Fun Maths or Applied Maths.

Worksheet: Axis of symmetry

  1. If a line divides a drawing into two identical parts, we consider that line to be the axis of symmetry of the drawing. (…)
  2. If we look in the mirror, we see the symmetry of our image (…)
  3. Indicate next to each figure whether the right is the axis of symmetry:
  1. A circle has a lot of axes of symmetry. (...)
  2. Each of the following letters has two axes of symmetry: X (…), H (…), N (…).
  3. A square has:
    1. two axes of symmetry
    2. three axes of symmetry
    3. four axes of symmetry
  4. The polygon (rhombus) below has:
    1. two axes of symmetry
    2. three axes of symmetry
    3. four axes of symmetry
  1. Draw the axis of symmetry for each picture.
  1. Draw the axes of symmetry for the following drawings (Saxon furniture floral patterns):
  1. Sketch the drawing symmetrically to the given axis:
